Description
Graphic designers are also commercial artists, but they combine visual and text-based content to meet clients' needs. Graphic designers ensure readability and aesthetically pleasing layouts of material using a set of best practices that allow for effective communication strategies.

Graphic designers understand complementary color palettes, optimum use of white space, readable fonts, and visual hierarchy that naturally attracts the eye to the information clients want their viewers to see. The seven principles of graphic design inform their work:

  • Balance
  • Scale
  • Harmony
  • Rhythm and movement
With these design principles and best practices in mind, graphic designers work with an in-depth understanding of a brand and its elements, including text, logos, images, and illustrations.

As a graphic designer, you may create:

  • Flyers
  • Digital banners
  • Advertisements (Print and digital collaterals)
  • Posters
  • Magazine layouts
  • Branding guidelines such as font designs and logo creation
Responsibilities
  • Involved in planning concepts by studying project briefs and researching the materials during pitch and pre-production meetings.
  • Illustrating concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size and style and submitting them for approval.
  • Communicating with the Art Director about layout and design.
  • Coordinates with internal teams, including tech, marketing, and accounts, in the design concept phase through completion of a project.
  • Test graphics across various media and printing surfaces
  • Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites.
  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images.
  • Ensure projects are completed on brand and on schedule.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing updated design publications;
  • Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software.
  • Review final layouts, suggesting improvements when necessary, and amend designs after feedback.
  • Directly report to the Art Director and closely work with the copywriter and other members of the Creative team (in-house, freelance and project based artists)
Requirements
  • Preferably with a Bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, multimedia or related field.
  • Experience as a graphic designer or in a related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design.
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency with required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign Quark, and Illustrator.
  • A strong eye for visual composition.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Prolific in using computer-aided design software and tools.
